In the final game of the first round of matches, host nation Ukraine took on Sweden in a hot and humid Kiev. It was Ukraine’s debut at a Euro tournament and I think we all looked forward to finally seeing Andriy Shevchenko on an international stage. he is 35 now and has played at such clubs as Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan and Chelsea and is truly a great player. And he did he not disappoint. Sweden’s main man, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, might have opened the scoring, but the Ukraine fought back almost immediately and Sheva scored with a powering header. Not much later he did so again to the delight of the tens of thousands packed into the satdium and the squares of Kiev. The atmosphere was electric and the game fast paced, making the game a delight to watch.

We’re going to try to bring you reports of all the games played, so keeps your eyes tuned to the site or follow us on on Facebook or Twitterto stay up to date.
