Benedetto Tarantino was born in 1981 in Palermo where he lives and works. He graduated in Architecture with a degree in architecture and landscape photography. He began photographing during his studies, after a course taught by the photographer and Professor Giovanni Chiaramonte.

In recent years he decided to deepen some research topics on the photography of architecture and urban and natural landscape in an investigation that takes place primarily in Sicily.
He has worked as an assistant for the realization of many photographic surveys published by the major Italian publishers. He was assistant to photography courses at the Faculty of Architecture in the University of Palermo. In 2010 he participated in the Workshop with Reza Deghati for the Project “TerzOcchio – Meridians of light, Librino” on photojournalism.
During the last several years he participated in portfolio readings, the last one was in Barcelona in July 2010 at the international meeting Ojodepez, where editors and photographers of the Magnum agency did some analysis of his works.
His latest reports where he was involved took place in Spain where he was invited by the city of Tarragona (Spain) as official photographer of the religious festival of SantaTecla, he also photographed the religious festival of St. Agatha in Catania, and in Bucharest (Romania) where he made a report on the city and of its difficulties and, finally, in Messina on the locations of the flood that destroyed several municipalities. He has been also a member of juries of experts for several photography competitions.
Nowadays he continues his research and analysis on the territory and the Sicilian landscape.
